Kevin Shawn Dufresne

Kevin Shawn Dufresne

November 8, 1971 – March 23, 2026

With heavy hearts to we say goodbye to a man who lived life with an open soul and an even wider smile. Kevin Shawn Dufresne—known to us as Kevy, Fatty, Kirby Frog or Big Kev—was taken from us far too soon in Vancouver, but the echo of his laughter will be heard from North Bay to Australia for years to come.

To know Kevin was to know what true loyalty looked like. He was the definition of genuine; a man who gave everything he had and never once looked for anything in return. If you were in his circle, you weren't just a friend or a colleague—to Kevin, you were family. He never ended a conversation without saying "I love you," a simple gesture that now feels like his greatest gift to us.

While Kevin’s heart was huge enough to hold countless friends and extended family, the very center of it belonged to three people: his daughter, Kayleigh, and his grandchildren, Celina and Donovan. They were his world, his pride, and his greatest joy. As "Poppa," he didn't just love them—he cherished every single moment, every milestone, and every memory made with them.

To his parents, Shona and Raymond; his siblings, David, Kimberly, and Kenneth; and his many nieces and nephews: Kevin’s infectious spirit is a part of all of you. His wit was sharp, his humor was constant, and that legendary laughter of his could truly echo for miles.

Kevin, you left every one of us with a story to tell and a memory to hold onto. Our hearts are heavy today, but they are also fuller because you were in them. We are all better for having known you.   Online condolences can be done at www.hillsidefuneral.ca

Rest easy, Kevy. We love you, too
