KILE, James
We are mourning the peaceful passing of our Dad/Grandpa/ Great-grandpa at Nipissing Manor on September 20th, 2026.
James (Jim) Llewellyn Kile was born August 13th, 1937, in Edson, Alberta. James was the beloved husband of Eleanor Kile who predeceased him in 2019. He leaves to mourn his passing his children Christine Pacheco, Jim (Joanne), Scott (Ginette), and Jackie Bedard, and his special nephew Edward Murphy (Bonnie). He will be dearly missed by his adored grandchildren Curtis Kile (Mel), Jamie-Lee Eberts (Tim), Candace Larose (Seb), Chris Aube, Adriana Pacheco, Braeden Pacheco, Kimberly Kile, and Elizabeth Kile. His great grand-children Cameron, Ellie, Jacob, Olivia, Mackenzie, Noah, and Zoe will carry wonderful memories of their much- loved Gramps. James was predeceased by his parents George and Florence (Kaye) Kile and all of his siblings George, Dorothy DeKoning, Mary McDonald, Violet Mallory, Alane Pinske, his son Llewellyn, and his great- grandson Liam Eberts.
Much of James’ working life was spent in a role that few Canadians today will remember, but which played an important part in Canada's defence during the Cold War. As a radar technician (later air defense technician) with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he served on Canada's Pinetree Line, the network of 42 radar stations that stretched across the country and helped guard North American airspace during an era of considerable international tension. Service on the radar line also meant mobility. Like many military radar technicians, James was regularly posted from one station to another, typically every couple of years. Over the course of his career, he moved his household, living in a mobile home, at least seven times, serving at a succession of Canadian military stations and experiencing a way of life familiar only to the RCAF families who populated these bases during the Cold War.
James was involved in coaching many sports and running countless youth activities on the military bases during his postings. His greatest joy was instructing Judo which he was a black belt.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Nipissing Manor for the compassionate care given to James (Jim) during his stay. As per James’ request there will be a private family service at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to the North Bay Foodbank in the name of James (Jim) Kile.
