LACROSSE: LAKERS BLOWOUT VEES
The Nipissing University Lakers lacrosse team capped off their regular season in style Saturday on the road.
The Lakers dominated from the opening faceoff, cruising to a lopsided 24-4 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury.
With the win, the Lakers improved to 5-5 and finished fourth in the CUFLA West Division.
Nipissing started off very strong, jumping out to a 9-0 lead after the first and closed out the half up 12-2.
The offence didn't slow down in the second half, as they added five goals in the third and another seven in the fourth quarter, on their way to a win.
Leading the Lakers offence was Zach Tarr who scored six goals and added four assists, Jacob Tarr scored four time, Carter Tait, Myles Shorey and Jesse Ashkewe each added three goals, while Jack Quinn chipped in with two.
Quinn added five assists and Shorey had three helpers, as well.
The Lakers will now face the Western Mustangs in Round 1 of the CUFLA Playoffs, as they look to get back to the Baggataway Cup.
