A movie filmed in North Bay and Toronto is getting millions of views on Netflix.

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein has spent the past four weeks in the Global Top 10 on Netflix.

Filming locally took place on a frozen Lake Nipissing.

Frankenstein stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature.

It’s one of six Canadian-filmed Netflix movies and shows added this week to the Netflix in Your Neighbourhood/Netflix chez vous websites.

Officials say it gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at filming locations and various attractions.

The write-up on Lake Nipissing, includes mentions of Kings Landing Wharf, famous local sunsets, Churchill’s Prime Rib House, the North Bay Museum and more.

“Across the Arctic’s frozen expanse, Victor Frankenstein tracks the Creature by sled and dogs, stopping briefly at an outpost to get supplies,” states the article. “These scenes were filmed on Lake Nipissing in North Bay.”

Globally, Frankenstein has garnered nearly 85 million views in the past four weeks, spending its first two weeks at number one.
