In their lone game of the weekend, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team came up with a big road win.

The Lakers kept their playoffs hopes alive with a 95-63 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds in the Soo on Saturday night.

A strong start in the opening quarter that saw the Lakers up 26-16 and a big third quarter, where they outscored Algoma by 12, propelled the Lakers to the win.

Nipissing led 43-35 at halftime and cruised to the 22-point win.

Darnaz Mabanza had 16 points, Alex Blackmore and Alvin Icyogere each had 15 and Owen Hagerty had 11 in the win.

Nipissing returns home to face Queen's and Ontario Tech next weekend.
