Local ceremony to mark World AIDS Day
The AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area is marking World AIDS Day on Monday.
A ceremony starts at 10 am at the Canadore Apartments on Commercial Street.
Officials say they will also be honouring Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week (Dec 1-7).
Along with centering the voices of community members who have been affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, they will be highlighting the work that front-line workers and supporters are doing to ‘Rethink the approach – Rebuild the HIV response – and Rise together’.
Meantime, the Red Scarf Project takes place at noon on Monday, with red scarves being tied around the community for anyone to take for free.
There’s also A Day Without Art, Dec 1-7, which merges the arts community with awareness about HIV and recognizing those that have been lost.
Local art galleries and tattoo studios will have displays set up.
