Local officials marking World Homeless Day on Oct. 10
Services and masses are being said for the homeless at a variety of local churches on Saturday.
It’s World Homeless Day with members of the Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay marking the occasion.
Officials say the international day celebrates work and progress, and advocates for improved policies and funding that can help prevent and end homelessness.
Another goal is to raise awareness about the needs of people experiencing homelessness.
This will be the 17th annual World Homeless Day.
The local committee encourages residents to visit the World Homeless Day website to learn more about ways they can play an active role in commemorating the day and gain a deeper understanding of homelessness.
