Local residents can help shape NOSM University’s future

Local residents can help shape NOSM University’s future

By Richard Coffin

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine University wants to hear from you.

A town hall meeting is taking place Tuesday, May 13 at One Kid’s Place and online.

Officials say you can share your thoughts on local healthcare challenges and successes and the future direction of the university.

NOSM University is shaping its next strategic plan.

Dr. Michael Green, the new President, Vice-Chancellor, Dean, and CEO of NOSM University, along with his leadership team, will be visiting communities across Northern Ontario as part of the process.

Nearly 1,000 physicians have graduated from the university since its inception in 2005, with 53% of its MD grads choosing a career in family medicine.

However, officials say the north still faces a shortage of about 400 physicians.

The public is invited to Tuesday’s town hall and asked to RSVP online
