Five North Bay Ski Racing Club members competed in the U14 Ontario Cup Provincial finals last weekend in Collingwood.
Grant Park (10th, men’s super G), Finley Prisco (11th, women’s super G) and Lexine Gauthier (15th, women’s giant slalom) secured top 20 finishes while Thomas Chute and Leighton Moore earned personal bests.
The four-day competition included athletes from all four Alpine Ontario divisions (98 men, 82 women) in super G, giant slalom, slalom and dual slalom.
“It’s been incredible to see the growth of our North Bay Ski Racing team, not only in the number of members, but in the competitiveness of our athletes at a provincial level,” says Jenna De Genova, NBSRC Head Coach. “We haven’t seen results like this in years and last week’s standings are a real testament to the dedication and caliber of our athletes.”
Some of the U14 athletes will be traveling to British Columbia next month to compete in the Whistler Cup.
The club says the Whistler Cup brings in top young alpine ski racers from across the world, particularly in the U14 and U16 age categories, providing athletes with the opportunity to compete against the best in their age group on an international stage.
