The Algonquin Barons won the NDA senior football final 31-6 over West Ferris on Friday night.
The Barons have the week off and will play the winner of Saturday’s (Nov. 9) NOSSA semifinal between schools in the Soo and Sudbury.
In OUA men’s hockey, the Nipissing Lakers split their games on the weekend.
They won 3-2 in a shootout over RMC then lost 2-1 to Lakehead.
On the women’s side, the Lakers won twice on the road this weekend.
They scored a 4-3 overtime win against Ottawa and defeated Carleton 5-2.
In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos won twice on the weekend, 5-2 at home to Timmins and 6-4 in Kirkland Lake.
In OUA men’s basketball, Nipissing lost 73-65 to Guelph then won 73-71 over Brock.
Darnaz Mabanza led the Lakers with 22 points, Alvin Icyogere added 17 and Ricardo Neves had 11 in the victory.
The Nipissing women lost both of their games, 76-58 to Guelph and 83-76 to Brock.
The Nipissing men’s volleyball team split their weekend games against McMaster, losing the first game 3-2 then winning the second 3-1.
The Nipissing women lost both of their games, 3-0 to McMaster.
In OCAA women’s volleyball, Canadore won 3-1 over George Brown on Saturday.
Their second game of the weekend was a 3-1 loss to Centennial on Sunday.
On the men’s side, the previously undefeated Panthers, lost both of their games.
They fell 3-1 to George Brown and 3-0 to Centennial.
In men’s basketball, the Panthers lost to Conestoga by a score of 77-68.
