Local Ultimate Frisbee athletes heading to National Championship

By Richard Coffin

A group of North Bay student athletes is getting ready to compete in the Canadian High School Ultimate Frisbee Championship next month.

They’re from three local schools:

  • École Secondaire Catholique Algonquin
  • St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School
  • Chippewa Secondary School

Officials say despite a long history of Ultimate Frisbee in the city, no local youth team has ever qualified to compete at this level, making this already quite an accomplishment.

They’ll be playing against the top 16 teams from across the country.

GoFundMe campaign has been set up by the Canadian National Team coaches to help cover the fees and costs associated with the local team travelling to and competing in the Ajax event, May 3-4.

Nearly $1,300 of the $1,600 goal has already been raised.
