Long Weekend Brings 265 calls for North Bay Police

The Family Day long weekend was a busy one for the North Bay City Police, as 265 calls for service were logged from 4pm Friday February 16th, until 8am Tuesday February 20th, 2024. 

Calls for service over the long weekend included; 3 Sudden Deaths, 3 Assaults,7 Domestic situations, 8 Mental Health calls, 12 Motor Vehicle Collisions (all property damage, and referred to the Collision Centre),30 Calls for Unwanted or Suspicious Persons, 10 Thefts 10 Traffic Complaints, 1 Sexual Assault, 1 Indecent Act , 6 Noise Complaints, 12 Well-being Checks, 3 Neighbour Disputes, 2 Mischiefs, 20 Calls for Police Assistance or Police Information

 Although 911 Hang-ups were down from previous weekends, dispatchers still answered 31 calls of this nature. Each one of these 911 hang-ups requires time and valuable resources to resolve. The public is reminded that if someone misdials 911, they should stay on the line, or call 705-472-1234.

 As a result of these calls for service, the following criminal charges were laid by Police: Assault (2), Fail to Comply (2), Mischief (3), Sexual Assault (1).

 Other calls that officers attended were: Alarms, Family Disputes, Traffic Enforcement situations, calls for Disturb the Peace, and Trespass to Property calls.

The public is reminded that if someone misdials 911, they should stay on the line, or call 705-472-1234.

 Officers also conducted 40 traffic stops, 8 person stops and 3 property or problem area checks. A number of Provincial Offence Notices and sobriety tests were issued as a result of the traffic stops.
