MACINNESS, Donald

MACINNESS, Donald

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Graham MacInnes, at the age of 69.

Don was born to Dorothy (née Graham) and Donald MacInnes, who made their home in North Bay, Ontario after relocating from Nova Scotia. He is survived by his twin sister, Cindy Mihok (Pierre Mihok) and predeceased by his sister, Karen MacInnes.

Don began his 42-year career with Skega Canada/Metso Minerals while in high school, interrupted by his engineering studies at the University of Waterloo, where he met his wife, Sandra MacInnes (née Scott). After returning to North Bay, Don worked as a draftsman for the company and later became an acclaimed mill lining expert and advisor, traveling internationally and contributing to new patents.

Don will be greatly missed by his children, Donald Scott MacInnes (Caitlin Andrews), Alexander David MacInnes (Lindsay Robins), and Crystal Ann MacInnes. He will also be lovingly remembered by his niece, Emily Mihok, and grandchildren, Leah MacInnes and Claire MacInnes.

Throughout his life, Don was known for his technical knowledge, creative solutions, and generosity. He could often be found in his garage working on various automotive and building projects supporting his family and friends. Whether he was building a house, building sets for DreamCoat Theatre, straightening motorcycle spokes, or even tuning a piano, those who knew Don were confident that he could be counted on to tackle any problem with precision and ingenuity. He will be fondly remembered as an inventor, a fixer, and a giver.

A service and reception will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at McGuinty Funeral Home in North Bay.
