Madigan wins Mort Fellman Memorial Award
2025 Female Athlete of the Year
The North Bay Sports Hall of Fame has named Fiona Madigan the 2025 recipient of the Mort Fellman Award, recognizing her accomplishments in track and field and basketball.
The Mort Fellman Memorial Award is a prestigious annual honour presented by the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame awards committee to recognize the Female Athlete of the Year.

In 2025, representing the West Ferris Trojans, Fiona won NDA gold medals in the 100m, long jump and triple jump events for the third season in a row. At NOSSA 2025, she won gold, silver and bronze medals capping off a high school career at that meet that included 5 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze as well as the NOSSA record for novice triple jump.
In 2025 she attended OFSSA in the 100m and triple jump jump. In total she competed at OFSSA in 8 individual events and two relays during her high school career and was the OFSSA gold medal winner in novice long jump.
During the 2025 season in basketball, Fiona split time between North Bay and Orangeville. She played AAU basketball for the Kia Nurse Elite club in the prestigious Nike EYBL circuit while training locally with Joey Puddister, Net Basketball and the Nipissing Lakers. Her scholastic team, the Orangeville Bears, is a part of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball League.
She led the team in minutes played, points and steals in a season that included several player of the game awards and a nomination to play in the All-Canadian game. Her success was rewarded with the offer of a NCAA Division1 basketball scholarship at Northern Illinois University.
Fiona’s 2025 season in basketball and track was built from a love of playing, which was nurtured by the local grassroots sports organizations like North Bay Spartans, Legion Track and Field, NBBA Basketball, Pro Sports Management NBA league, Titans swimming, Lakers and North Bay Youth Soccer, Lakers Volleyball, Apollo Gymnastics and North Bay Bulldogs.
She developed her athletic talents, competitive spirit and sportsmanship under the guidance of the many volunteers who power these organizations and is grateful for the organizers, coaches, officials, teachers and teammates from across the city who played with her and coached her over the years.
Madigan will receive her award at the 45th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 2, at the Davedi Club. Tickets can be purchased through Larry Tougas at 705-303-8104. Tickets are also available at the Davedi Club by calling 705-474-4190. Tickets are $65.
