Male Arrested, Charged with Attempted Abduction of a Child

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has arrested and charged a male in connection with an investigation into a suspicious incident involving a young person on the afternoon of May 21 in the area of Marshall Park Drive and Labreche Drive.

The accused, 24-year-old male, of North Bay, has been charged with:

• Assault
• Abduction of a Person Under the Age of 14 – Take or Entice

On May 21 at approximately 3 p.m., a young person was in the area of Marshall Park Drive and Labreche Drive with a parent. The accused approached the young person and a brief altercation occurred, during which it is alleged the accused attempted to abduct the young person. The accused then fled the area on foot. The parties were not known to each other.

Members of the NBPS Patrol Section responded and located the accused a short distance away in the 500 block of Lakeshore Drive. The accused was taken into custody without further incident.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 22, 2026, and was subsequently remanded into custody for a future court date of May 27, 2026.
NBPS believes there may be additional information relevant to the investigation, which remains ongoing. Due to the nature of the investigation, the name of the accused will not be released at this time.
