The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) arrested a male following a wellness check in the Station Road and Seymour Street area.
During the interaction, the individual assaulted two police officers and resisted arrest before being safely taken into custody.
The accused, 23-year-old, male, of North Bay, has been charged with:

- Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
On January 16, police responded to a request for a wellness check involving an individual in the Station Road and Seymour Street area. Officers located and spoke with the individual and requested the assistance of Mobile Crisis to help provide support.
During the interaction, the individual attempted to hide behind a bush and threw an object at an officer. He then ran toward the officer and initiated a physical altercation. A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was activated, and the individual was placed under arrest. While being taken into custody, he continued to resist, initiating a physical altercation with a second officer. No serious injuries were reported.
A subsequent search of the individual’s belongings resulted in the discovery of an edged weapon.
“Situations like this can be dangerous and highly unpredictable,” said Insp. McFarlane. “The Patrol Section members involved led with compassion, were professional, and relied on their training and tools to quickly restore safety to the situation, preventing further harm to our members and the community.”
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
To protect the individual’s right to privacy, as this incident involves mental health concerns, NBPS will not be releasing their name.
