MANCINI-BITONTI, Theresa
Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Health Sciences North (Sudbury) on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Theresa was the beloved wife of Giuseppe “Joe” Bitonti, and loving mother to Talia Mia Bitonti (Dan), and Mya Alyssa Bitonti. She will be affectionately remembered by her siblings Paola Mellow (Kevin), Adrian Mancini (Helena), and Letitia Mancini; her sister in-law, Anna-Marie Bitonti (Bart), and brother in-law, David Bitonti (Jayde); her parents Fausto Mancini and late Lydia Mancini (nee Lo Cicero) her father in-law, Antonio “Tony” Bitonti and mother in-law, late Filomena Bitonti (nee Cribari) and her nieces and nephews Hailey, Samuel (Madison), Alessia, Matthew, Erica (Danial), Dylan, and Riley.
Her love for our family was unsurpassed. She always encouraged us to discover and pursue whatever brought us joy, instilling in us the importance of following our hearts, and supporting us in finding our own paths in life. She also taught us the importance of online shopping, and when you can’t pick one, “buy both”.
Theresa will forever be remembered as a fierce and compassionate advocate for children with special needs. She was immensely proud to serve as teacher and Special Education Coordinator with the Nipissing Parry Sound Catholic District School Board for over 25 years, holding the position longer than anyone else in the history of the School Board.
Theresa lived by the motto: “school is for all children”. She dedicated her career to ensuring that every child had a place where they could learn, belong, and thrive. She was the voice for students and families who often felt they did not have one. Through her patience, creativity, intuition, and unwavering determination, she worked tirelessly to remove barriers for students, especially those with complex medical needs, so that they could experience the joy and belonging of being part of a classroom.
Our family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the exceptional staff at Health Sciences North (Sudbury) for their compassionate and empathetic care: Dr. Simard, Dr. McIsaac, Dr. Jani, Dr. Lam, Dr. Hewitt, Dr. Hennessy, Dr. Willoughby, Dr. Nykilchyk, as well as nurses Jordan, Erica, Jackson, Hailey, Gabby, Brittany, Renee, and Brock.
The family will be receiving visitors at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Saturday, September 12, 2026, between the hours of 10 am to 12 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 pm. Talia and Mya warmly invite those who attend to share a special story, cherished memory, or meaningful moment of their mom. Your memories and reflections would be deeply appreciated and treasured by the family.
