Marjorie DeRuyte (Reed)
It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie DeRuyte (Reed) announce her sudden passing on March 10, 2026, at St. Michael’s Hospital, at the age of 76.
Marjorie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Benedictus “Dick” DeRuyte. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Angela DeRuyte and Michael (Kimberly) DeRuyte. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Cameron, Adam, and Chelsea who affectionately knew her as “Gma”. Marjorie is survived by her mother Norma Reed. She was predeceased by her father James Reed. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings Nancy (Ernie) Johnson, Vickie Lapiere-White, Randall (Lisa) Reed, and Gary Reed, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was a longtime resident of Echo Bay, Ontario and was deeply involved in her church community at Faith Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment were evident through her dedication and presence. She will be greatly missed by her close friends Bev Wood, Deb and Mike Johnson, and her extended church community.
Marjorie will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the genuine care she showed to everyone, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer support to those around her.
Cremation has taken place. A church service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay, Ontario on April 11, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Michael’s Hospital, particularly those in the Cardinal Carter Wing, for their exceptional care and efforts.
