Marking 30 years of the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company
The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company is getting ready to celebrate this weekend.
The company’s flag was raised at North Bay City Hall on Monday to kick off preparations for Saturday’s 30th Anniversary celebration at the waterfront attractions.
Past and present volunteers associated with the mini-train and carousels were invited to the flag raising with chair Dr. Rod Johnston.
Officials say the event recognized the hundreds of community volunteers and many partnerships with clubs, organizations, adopters, sponsors and more.
They’ll also be celebrated at Saturday’s event with the attraction’s 2 millionth rider.
From 10 am to 6pm there will be retro pricing of $1 per ride.
Static displays will also be set up, the Shriners Clown Unit and area mascots will be there too.
The formal ceremony takes place at 1pm Saturday.
The mini train opened July 29, 1994, with the first, larger carousel opening on Canada Day in 2002.
The second, smaller carousel opened on July 1, 2005.
