Mary Baril
Peacefully passed away at the Algonquin Nursing Home (Mattawa) on Monday December 2, 2024, at the age of 95 years. Mary was the beloved wife of Benard Baril and the loving mother to Ann Mary Hill (Ron), Michael Baril, Jeffrey Baril (Laurie), John Baril (Susan), and Jennifer McAllister (Keith). She was the cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mary was pre-deceased by her sisters, Leona Sheehan (Walter, deceased) and Audrey Sargent, as well as her brothers, Jack Sargent (Rena, deceased) and Jim Sargent. She was predeceased by her parents Matthew Sargent and Mary Elizabeth (nee McCann) Sargent.
Mary’s family was everything to her. She and Bernard supported their children in all their endeavours and encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy.
Mary was a wonderful teacher to students beginning their education in Junior and Senior Kindergarten in North Bay. She taught at St. Rita, Corpus Christi, St. Mary and St. Alexander schools. She instilled in them a love of learning.
A special thank you to the caring staff at Algonquin Nursing Home who cared for Mary as though she were one of their own and supported our family during this time.
As per Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. She will rest at the All Saints Mausoleum in North Bay. There will be a family Celebration of Life in the Spring. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be gratefully acknowledged by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
