Mary Elizabeth Moroughan (née Woodward)

March 1928 – September 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Elizabeth Moroughan on September 2, 2025, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, at the remarkable age of 97.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Moroughan (2006), with whom she shared 57 devoted years of marriage. She was a treasured sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Earl (Karen), Dianna (Tom – predeceased), and Gail (Terry – predeceased and Dale – predeceased). Mary was predeceased by her brothers Alan (Ruth), Don (Marjorie), Alfred (Kathy), Bruce (Evelyn), and her sisters Edna (Bob) and Audrey (Don).
As the second eldest in a family of eleven, Mary naturally stepped into the role of second mother and mentor to her younger siblings—a role she embraced with grace, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
Mary’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and their families, whose lives she enriched with her gentle spirit and enduring love. She and her late husband Art created a home that became a cherished gathering place, filled with laughter, warmth, and treasured childhood memories. In her later years, Mary found joy in family visits and outings to the casino with her sister Edna, moments that brought her great happiness.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Phillipson, the compassionate staff at North Bay Regional Health Centre, and Barclay House Retirement Residence for their exceptional care and kindness.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
