Mattawa resident charged with human trafficking

A provincial police investigation into human trafficking has led to a Mattawa resident being charged.

The OPP says the investigation began in the spring after officers received information about a female victim being trafficked.

The agency says through its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit, a 56-year-old person has been charged with human and drug trafficking, assault with a weapon and more.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
