MAY, David Dean

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of David Dean May, a devoted father, loving son, cherished brother, supportive uncle, cousin, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on September 2, 2025 at the age of 54.
Born on October 13, 1970 in Cambridge, Ontario, Dave embraced life fully. He was happiest when surrounded by family. His warm smile and sense of humor are the qualities we will remember most about him.
From a young age, Dave cherished the time he spent fishing with his Grandpa Sachs, memories that stayed with him throughout his life. Those early days by the water sparked a lifelong love of fishing, which he carried into adulthood and shared with both family and friends on many fishing trips, keeping the tradition alive.
Dave’s biggest joy in life was his family. His love for his three kids was unwavering, and his pride in us was something we felt every day. He was our biggest supporter - whether coaching us, cheering us on from the sidelines, or offering a word of encouragement when we needed it most, he always reminded us that we were his world. Holidays were his favourite time of year and he loved making them special with our family traditions he cherished so deeply.
Family vacations were always an adventure with Dad. Some of our favourite memories with him were road trips exploring the East Coast and California’s Highway 1. For Dad, the journey was just as special as the destination, and he made every moment memorable.
A highlight from our trip to California was when we took family surf lessons together in San Diego. The ocean always called to him, and it was where he felt most at peace. The water was his happy place, and it’s where we’ll always feel connected to him.
Dave will be profoundly missed but his love will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion and many unforgettable memories that will be carried forward by his children, family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Keristen (Luke), Mackenzie (Ariel) and Owen, his parents, Dave and Wanda, his sister Christine (Lee) and his nieces and nephew Kayla (Matt), Devon (Ang) and Emma (Ghadi). He was preceded by his grandparents, Edgar and Anne Sachs, and Bert and Mary May.
As per his wishes, cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Galt Collective (20 Hobson Street) from 1:30 – 4:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honour his memory and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Online condolences can be at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
