McKeown Four Lane Expansion Resumes

The expansion of McKeown Avenue to four lanes is set to resume next week. The contractor, Ed Seguin and Sons Trucking & Paving Ltd., will be mobilizing and temporarily closing McNamara Street for sanitary sewer installation.
The closure of McNamara Street is expected to occur mid-week and, once closed, will last for approximately five days. One lane will remain open for local traffic to provide one-way access to Lucky 13.
Once this work is complete, McNamara Street will reopen until the next scheduled closure in June, and construction will continue with the remaining project components, including:
· Storm sewer installation from the Workplace Safety property to Cartier Street.
· Watermain installation from Hopper’s Dealership to Cartier Street, including a stub on McNamara Avenue.
· New traffic lights at the McNamara intersection, including a controlled crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
· Road widening to four lanes, including curbs, gutters, and asphalt from McNamara Avenue to the McKeown Plaza entrance (A&W).
· Roundabout resurfacing and approach improvements.
· Installation of streetlights and pedestrian lighting.
· A new sidewalk on the north side of McKeown Avenue (MTO property to Cartier Street).
· Construction of a multi-use path on the south side of McKeown Avenue (MTO property to the McKeown Plaza entrance).
· Boulevard and ditch restoration.
· Additional work as required.
All businesses will remain accessible throughout the construction period, with one lane of traffic in each direction maintained. This $9.6 million infrastructure upgrade will expand McKeown Avenue to four lanes—two in each direction—while enhancing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. The project is scheduled for completion by October 30, 2025. The City appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as we complete this important infrastructure project.
