MEINKE, Frank

MEINKE, Frank

April 25, 1934 - October 28, 2025

It is with deep sadness, that we share the passing of the greatest husband, most loving father and doting Poppa. Frank passed peacefully at Mattawa Hospital on Tuesday October 28th, 2025, after a brief illness, he was 91.

Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce, his children Al, Melissa (Del) and Travis (Kristy); and his grandchildren Leigha, Clode and Wil. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Lily Meinke, and sister Erma.

Born and raised in Hamilton ON. Frank later moved to North Bay where he met and fell in love with Joyce and were married in 1971. He enjoyed a long career as an Acid Operator at DuPont/ ETI/ Dyno Nobel in North Bay, then as a Commissionaire, until retiring and moving to Barrie ON to be closer to family and grandchildren. Frank wasn’t one to sit still for long, so to keep busy he quit retirement and joined the team at Princess Auto in Barrie until fully retiring in 2020.

He had a knack for making friends, story telling and a robust infectious laugh. He was an avid reader and was known as being a book of knowledge amongst his loved ones. When he discovered Google and YouTube, his learning knew no bounds.

Together with Joyce and family, he spent the last year enjoying beautiful countryside views and spectacular sunsets in Rutherglen.

As per Franks wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Frank’s name to your local animal shelter or rescue of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services.
