Mental Health Supports for First Responders
The Ontario Ministry of Health has announced new funding through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) Grant Program, a province-wide initiative designed to strengthen mental health services for first responders across Ontario.
This significant investment includes support for the Nipissing District. Under the existing agreement between the Ministry of Health and the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB), DNSSAB will receive up to $30,000 in one-time funding to support its Paramedic Services in accessing the Warrior Health MHS4PSP Program.
This specialized program provides tailored mental health supports, including training, for paramedics, helping to promote resilience, reduce stigma, and ensure timely access to care. “This is terrific news for our staff and the community,” said Mark King, DNSSAB Board Chair. “Supporting the mental health and wellness of our paramedics is essential to maintaining strong, sustainable services for residents throughout Nipissing District.”
The MHS4PSP Grant Program is part of Ontario’s broader commitment to improving mental health resources for public safety organizations across the Province.
Benefits to Staff and the Community:
• Enhanced mental health support for paramedics.
• Improved service delivery through healthier, more resilient staff.
• Strengthened emergency response capacity across the District.
DNSSAB extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Health for recognizing the importance of mental health in public safety and for investing in the well-being of those who protect communities across Ontario.
