Michael Joseph Makowiczuk

January 5, 1951 – January 14, 2026

Mike passed away peacefully at North Bay Regional Health Centre on January 14, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Born on January 5, 1951, Mike grew up in Kiosk, where his lifelong passion for speed was born—racing the back roads with his friends and developing a love for cars and anything fast that stayed with him throughout his life.

Mike leaves behind his devoted wife, Madeleine, and his beloved daughters Jennifer (Ken) and Nancy (Jason). He was a proud and loving pépère to Kyle, Nick, and Avery, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was also deeply devoted to his very spoiled dog, Max, who was a constant companion and a source of great comfort and happiness.

Mike was predeceased by his father Nick, his mother Barbara, his brother Raimund (Ursula), and his sister Marie.

Mike was the founder and long-time owner of Idylltyme Sports and Marine, a business he built with dedication, integrity, and hard work. Known for his generosity, Michael was deeply involved in the community and donated to countless causes, always ready to help where he could. Mike’s legacy will continue through his grandson, Kyle, who has purchased the business and is proud to carry on the values, passion, and commitment that Mike established.

He cherished summers spent with Madeleine at Glennrock, creating memories that will be forever treasured by family and friends.

Michael will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, generosity, deep love of family, and his lifelong need for speed.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Oyeniran and the hospital staff, who were nothing short of amazing and provided exceptional care and compassion during Mike’s time there. The family also sincerely thanks the many friends and family members who offered their love, support, and kindness in the days surrounding his passing.

In consideration of those travelling from a distance, a celebration of life will be held when weather conditions allow for safe travel on Saturday April 18th. Family will be receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm. Followed by a light luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
