Michel (Mike) Tessier

Michel (Mike) Tessier

In Loving Memory of Michel (Mike) Tessier

September 26, 1945 – August 7, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Mike Tessier at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves behind loved ones whose hearts are forever touched by his presence — his beloved wife of 57 years, Shirley (née Mongeon), daughters, Chantal (Mark), Natalie (Mike), and Michelle. Cherished grandchildren Isaac and Liam (Taylor), Jacob and Emma.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Rene and Juliette Tessier (née Boyer); his sisters: Thérèse Fortier, Florence Tessier, Jeannine Tessier, Noëlla Piché, Françoise Tessier-Borkowski, and Claire St-Cyr; as well as his brothers: Maurice, Albert, Marcel, Pierre, and Denis.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Estelle Vaillancourt and Ghislaine Lefebvre,

He will also be dearly missed by his little fur bébé, Ginger, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Mike was a hard worker, known for his boundless energy and zest for life. A true social butterfly. He worked for many years at Craig Bit, Kenroc, and Uniroc until those doors closed—but Mike always believed that when one door closes another one opens.  He continued his career as a longhaul transport truck driver until retirement, and then found joy in his “fun job” with Stock Transportation, proudly driving school buses and carrying precious cargo every day.

Mike was courageous, proud, and rarely complained. He was always smiling—with his eyes—and brought light to every room. Married to his sweetheart, Mike and Shirley shared a love like no other. He lovingly referred to her as “my girlfriend” to the very end.

The family would like to express heartfelt thank you to the Emergency Department, CCU, and Palliative Care team at NBRHC for their care and compassion. Special thanks as well to PHARA Outreach and all the dedicated doctors, nurses and PSWs who helped make his final journey so peaceful, especially with toast and honey.

A heartfelt gratitude to our dear sister-in-law/aunt Gib Tessier for her never ending support, on a minutes notice, without hesitation.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Road, on Monday, August 18th from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and 7:00 until 9:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 299 Airport Road on Tuesday, August 19th  at 11:00 AM.  A  private committal service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation towards PHARA outreach in Mike’s memory will be gratefully acknowledged by his family. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
