Milestone flight for Propair in North Bay

By Richard Coffin

Air passenger service to Toronto has returned to North Bay after the first Propair flight departed on Monday.

The flight marks the launch of the Quebec-based regional carrier’s new Rouyn-Noranda – North Bay – Toronto route.

Flights will depart from Rouyn-Noranda to Jack Garland Airport before continuing directly to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), connecting North Bay to both destinations five days per week.

“Our goal is to become part of your community, not just for a few months, but for many years to come,” says Justin Lemieux, General Manager of Propair. “We know that strong air connectivity is essential to a thriving business community. Growth brings jobs, opportunity, and a stronger local economy. But to get there, we need your support. We need passengers on board so that Propair’s wings can carry you to even more destinations with more frequent service in the future.”

Bryan Avery, Airport Manager, says they’re excited to welcome Propair and its passengers.

“The North Bay Jack Garland Airport (YYB) ensures connectivity for our community’s needs – connecting people, places and possibilities,” he says. “With Propair as a partner, premier convenient connections area available to more destinations. Simple check-in, comfortable short flights, and all the convenience of our community’s airport provides an improved service to Toronto, while also offering the same to Rouyn-Noranda.”

With Propair offering early morning departures from North Bay and evening return flights, officials say travellers will have the flexibility to conduct business in Toronto and return home the same day.

Air Canada discontinued service between North Bay and Toronto at the end of January.
