Mills, Barry Richard

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Barry Richard Mills on Wednesday, June 30, 2026.

Barry was a cherished and much-loved uncle, affectionately known as “Uncle Bear,” to his nieces and nephew: Cindy VanWart (Barry), Jason Mills (Pauline), and Sheri Noon (Robb). He also held a special place in the hearts of his great-nephews and great-niece: Nick VanWart, Ryan Mills, Brandon Mills, and Caitlin Noon. Barry’s faithful companion, his beloved dog Bear, will miss him deeply as well. Barry was predeceased by his loving parents, Truman and Gertie Mills, and by his older brothers, Wayne and Bruce.

A lifelong resident of Callander, Barry was proud to be part of the community he loved and was an active member of Legion Branch 445 (Callander). A dedicated and hardworking man, Barry spent 40 years as a heavy equipment operator with Union Gas and, even after retirement, continued doing what he enjoyed by working with Darryl Blay trucking.

Barry will be remembered for his hardworking nature, and the kindness and loyalty he showed to family, friends, and those whose lives he touched over the years. He leaves behind many treasured memories and will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will we having a celebration of life Sunday July 19 from 12pm -3 pm at the Callander Legion Br 445. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barry’s memory may be made to Callander Legion Branch 445 (Apartment Building Fund).
