Bruce passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026.
He was the beloved husband and companion of Penny Paulin for 40 years. Lovingly known as “Papa Bruce,” he will be dearly missed by his stepchildren Brent Whelan (Crystal), Pam Paulin (Jeff Hill), and Chantal Paulin (Tim Thomason), as well as his grandchildren Lee and Nathan Whelan, Georgia Paulin, Ferron and Ty Hall, and Connor Paulin.

Dear brother of Dearl, Robert, Bill, Helen, Margaret, and Bart. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Dearl and Mabel Montgomery, his brother Norm, and his sister Jean.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Bruce was happiest spending time in nature. He loved hunting and fishing, and when winter arrived, he looked forward to snowmobiling and ice fishing. He began his working career with CN before joining the City of North Bay, where he worked at both West Ferris Arena and Memorial Gardens until his retirement. Bruce also had a special place in his heart for his beloved husky, Sheba.

In keeping with Bruce’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
