More Alouette buses running

By Richard Coffin

Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services says another six Alouette school bus routes are running as of Monday (March 2).

It brings the total to 20 with the routes that started back up late last week.

This as a labour dispute with drivers continues.

The other 47 routes remain canceled.

The United Steelworkers Local 2020 members are on strike after rejecting the employer’s offer.

The union says it’s seeking $21.10 per hour in the first year, followed by $1 increases in each of the next two years under a three-year agreement.

They say the drivers currently earn $18.11 an hour.

Most of Allouete’s routes are in West Nipissing with some in North Bay, Redbridge and Parry Sound.
