More commercial development could be coming to Pinewood Park Drive
There’s interest in further commercial development on Pinewood Park Drive, across from the casino.
A council committee has given approval to rezoning and official plan amendments for just over 15 hectares of land, which also has frontage on Decaire Road.
Paul Goodridge, speaking on behalf of the property owner, told council Tuesday night about some possibilities.
“The expressions of interest that my client has received so far on the property have been for hotel and restaurant uses, in keeping with the development that is in the area and the proposed development especially with the new city rec centre that is going to be coming online,” he says.
The land may further be separated into three different lots in the future.
Peter Carello, Senior City Planner, says there’s two parts to the recommendation.
“The first part would bring the property into the settlement boundary,” he says. “This would allow the property to be connected to municipal services. The second part is to change the zoning from rural to arterial commercial.”
Full council still needs to vote on the issue.
