City of North Bay Officially Opens New Freshwater Docking System Pool

The City of North Bay celebrated the official opening today of a new freshwater docking system pool at The Cove on Trout Lake, enhancing recreational opportunities within the community.

“This new docking system offers a safe space for everyone to enjoy swimming and aquatic activities,” said Coun. Justine Mallah, Chair of Community Services. “It’s a fantastic addition to our community and highlights the City’s commitment to provide enhanced recreational opportunities.”

The new “C”-shaped dock provides a 50-metre swimming area, including 2–4 lanes for swimming and aquatic programs. The project was approved by Council and funded through the 2025 Capital Budget following a presentation from residents in 2024.

“I’m thrilled to see this project come to life,” said Kelly Wallace, who presented to Council in 2024 to advocate for the docking system. “This facility will offer a safe and welcoming space for swimmers of all ages and abilities, and it’s exciting to know the community will enjoy it for years to come.”

Programming and scheduling for the new docking system pool will be in place for the 2026 summer season.
