New NNDSB trustee no stranger to the Board

The Near North District School Board (NNDSB) has a new trustee with board experience.
Krista Messenger was sworn in to represent Zone 1, including North Bay and West Nipissing, at last week’s meeting.
She replaces Julie Bertram, with officials saying Messenger was one of four applicants for the position, which will end next year following the municipal election.
She’s a corporate governance specialist at Ontario Northland who previously served as the executive assistant to the board’s Director of Education and Secretary of the board.
“Messenger acknowledges the unique challenges of the board, including addressing equity of access in a large geography, advancing Indigenous education, responding to enrolment and budget pressures and strengthening public confidence,” states a release.
New trustees Jay Aspin and John Arkwright were also welcomed at last week’s board meeting.
They were the runners-up in the 2022 municipal election and replace Chantal Phillips and Jeanie Fuscaldo, who resigned.
