New Safety Zone on McKay Ave

City staff have received a request from the Laurentian Learning Centre on McKay Avenue to designate the area around their school as a community safety zone.

Public safety in the above noted area is of special concern due to the high volume of vulnerable road users including pedestrian traffic. The designation of a CSZ would raise driver awareness of public safety at this location near the learning centre.

The designation of a CSZ would raise driver awareness of public safety at this location near the Page 2 learning centre. The current speed limit in this area is 50km/hr. A Community Safety Zone with a posted speed of 40km/hr is recommended for this area.

The recommended option is that Council implement a Community Safety Zone and permanent speed reduction using conventional signs in the area.
