Niagara Falls man arrested after shooting in North Bay
The North Bay Police Service has charged a 45-year-old Niagara Falls man after last Friday’s shooting in the area of Seymour and Franklin streets, and the Highway 11/17 bypass.
Police say the accused faces 11 charges, including attempted murder.
They say last Friday, after meeting the victim at a nightclub, the two left together, driving a short distance away before stopping the vehicle.
Police say during an altercation, a gun was fired with the victim suffering serious, life-threatening injuries.
They say the accused then fled the area and was located and arrested in the Waterloo area, with support from the Guelph and Waterloo Police services and OPP R.O.P.E. Squad.
“Incidents involving firearms pose a serious risk to public safety, and this incident is a clear example of the threat firearms present in our community,” says Acting Deputy Jeff Warner. “Investigations of this nature rely heavily on strong partnerships between police services, and that cooperation is critical to locating suspects and ensuring that individuals who pose a danger to the public are held accountable. This was excellent work by all participating units, including the Patrol Section first on scene.”
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
