Nipissing and part-time faculty holding mediated talks Friday (Jan. 30)
Mediated talks continue on Friday, but Nipissing says the Contract Academic Staff Bargaining Unit representing part-time faculty at the university will be in a legal strike position on Monday.
Nipissing says after three sessions with a conciliator, the union requested a “no board report” from the Labour Ministry on Jan. 16, adding the parties will be in a legal strike or lockout position 17 days after the no board report was issued.
Both parties agreed to meet for mediation on Friday, with the goal of reaching an agreement prior to the strike deadline.

The university says if a deal is not reached, a strike is possible on Monday.
They’re advising the Nipissing community to watch their email for updates.
