Nipissing has its Ontario Green Party candidate

By Richard Coffin Friday, Dec. 20th, 2024

Ontario’s Green Party has nominated its candidate for Nipissing in the next provincial election.

Colton Chaput, a fourth-year nursing student is from the North Bay area.

The party says he recognizes the need for a provincial government that prioritizes the wellbeing of people living in small cities and rural communities.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to continue serving my community by holding important conversations about the issues that matter most to people in Nipissing,” says Chaput.  “We need to work together to deliver social and climate justice so that our children can continue to celebrate the natural beauty of our riding.”

Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner says Chaput has a long track-record of volunteer service and close ties to Nipissing.

“I know he’ll be a strong voice for his community and always put people before politics,” says Schreiner.

Unless an early election is called, the next scheduled provincial vote would be June 4, 2026.
