Nipissing Lakers competing at FISU World University Games

Three student athletes from Nipissing University are representing Canada at the FISU World University Games in Torino, Italy.

Canada’s women’s hockey team, including Lakers’ forwards Madison Desmarais and Malory Dominico, are back on the ice Wednesday.

They face off again Slovakia to wrap up Group A preliminary play, after two blowout wins over Chinese Taipei (16-0) and the United Kingdom (14-0).

Desmarais has 4 goals and 3 assists, including a hat trick in Canada’s opening win, while Dominico has one goal and two assists.

Nipissing’s Brooke Ailey is competing in the women’s cross-country skiing events, which begin Wednesday.

She’s entered in the women’s 10km Individual Free (Jan. 15), Sprint Classic (Jan. 17), Sprint Team Mixed (Jan. 19) and 20km Mass Start Classic (Jan. 23) events.
