NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Daniel Dirracolo (Powassan Voodoos), as well as forwards Jesse Dupuis (Blind River Beavers) and Oliver Smith (Greater Sudbury Cubs) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending April 7.

DANIEL DIRRACOLO, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS: Appearing in nearly 200 minutes of game action during the time frame, Dirracolo made well-over 100 stops, which was a league-high.

In all, the 18-year-old Woodbridge, Ont., product had a 1.84 goals-against average, along with a stingy .949 save percentage.

Dirracolo currently leads all NOJHL netminders in playoff wins, with six, including having gone a perfect 5-0 in overtime.

JESSE DUPUIS, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS: An offensive leader for the Beavers, Dupuis collected four points through the first two games of the West Final against Sudbury.

The 20-year-old from Iroquois Falls, Ont., tallied twice and dished out two assists, including one on the Game 2 winner versus the Cubs.

Dupuis presently paces the league in playoff scoring in the postseason with 17 points, on nine tallies and eight helpers.

OLIVER SMITH, (F) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS: The veteran forward from Lively, Ont., etched his name on the game sheet in each of the initial two contests in the series with Blind River.

This featured a team-best two markers as the Cubs split on the road heading into Game 3 Monday evening at home.

Including combined regular season and playoff contests over the past five years, Smith has more goals and points than any other skater in the NOJHL, with 107 and 242 respectively
