NOJHL names its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week
The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Chase Thompson (Hearst Lumberjacks); defenceman Dylan Rousselle (Powassan Voodoos) and goaltender Michael Tamburro (Iroquois Falls Storm) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending December 14.
Chase Thompson, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks – In a pair of Hearst victories, the 20-year-old North Bay product tallied three times, including collecting a game-winner, and dished out four assists in home wins over the Soo Eagles and Blind River Beavers.
Playing his minor hockey in the North Bay Trappers AAA system, Thompson enters the new week fourth in NOJHL scoring with 53 points on 18 markers and 35 helpers.
Three games shy of 200 in the career, Thompson is currently on a seven-game point streak and has also etched his name on the game sheet in 13 of his previous 14 outings.
Dylan Rousselle, (D) Powassan Voodoos – Stepping up, Rousselle has contributed nicely for Powassan maintaining their winning ways of late, that has seen them win six straight.
In the time frame, the 17-year-old rookie rearguard from Blind River, who spent the majority of last season with the Soo Greyhounds U18 side in the Great North U18 Hockey League, had a goal as well as a pair of assists in a triumph versus French River, then notched the deciding marker in a victory over the Soo Thunderbirds.
Riding an eight-game heater, where he has collected 11 points from the back-end in that span, Rousselle has moved up to fourth in offensive production among first-year D-men with 18, including a half-dozen goals.
Michael Tamburro, (G) Iroquois Falls Storm – A solid NOJHL debut for the 17-year-old netminder over the weekend saw Tamburro go unbeaten in his first two league starts.
He began with 37 stops in an overtime tie for the Storm against the Soo Eagles Saturday. Then less than 24 hours later he turned aside all 29 attempts he faced in posting his initial NOJHL shutout Sunday afternoon while blanking Blind River at Jus Jordan Arena. His totals resulted in a 1.42 goals-against average for the week, along with a save percentage of .957.
Hailing from the provincial capital where he manned the nets previously for the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s Reps Hockey Club program, Tamburro had begun the 2025-26 campaign with the Mississauga Chargers (OJHL) before being acquired by Iroquois Falls earlier this month.
