Lt. Hillary Hamilton, Weapons Director at 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron, says on top of their regular mission of securing Canadian airspace they’re also making sure Santa has a safe flight.
“He’s able to get through the airspace without any interference,” she says. “Make sure that no other aircraft are going to get in his way. If we have to scramble our jets to make sure he has a clear path to fly, then we have the ability to do that as well.”
Lt. Hamilton says there are plenty of ways for kids to follow along on Wednesday night, including noradsanta.org.
She says there are games, videos, holiday activities, and information about NORAD holiday traditions around the world.
Along with the website, there are mobile apps available, too.
NORAD Tracks Santa is marking its 70th anniversary this year.
