North Bay football players return home with CJFL exhibition game
Saturday will be a home game for a few players as the Sault College Cougars and Ottawa Sooners football teams play an exhibition game in North Bay.
Officials say the ‘Battle in the Bay’ exhibition game at Mike O’Shea Field will showcase the Canadian Junior Football League in North Bay, while giving the teams a chance to grow the game across Northern Ontario.
The Cougars roster includes Former West Ferris Trojan Erron Beachey and former Algonquin Baron Mathieu Berube while former Baron Ryan Smetana plays for Ottawa.
“This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase CJFL football in the North Bay community, increase awareness of the league, and provide valuable game experience for our young roster as we continue to develop and prepare our student-athletes for the upcoming season,” says Paul Orazietti, Cougars Head Coach. “We know North Bay is a great football community, and we are looking forward to putting our exciting brand of OFC/CJFL football on display in the city.”
Tickets are $10 and available at the gate on game day.
The game is being played at 2 pm on Saturday.
Proceeds are going to Sault College Football, the Ottawa Sooners, and the Algonquin Barons football program.
