North Bay Overdose Awareness Day event taking place Aug. 31

By Richard Coffin

International Overdose Awareness Day is on Monday with the community invited to a local event outside of city hall.

Officials say they’re honouring and remembering those lost, supporting those who are struggling & grieving, and creating space for community connection, resources, and compassion.

The event runs from 4-7 pm in Leger Square.

Along with guest speakers with lived experience, there will be traditional drumming, community booths and resources, Naloxone training, and more.

A gathering of remembrance is also taking place at the Overdose Memorial Gardens, located right across the street.
