North Bay Police Executes 93 Warrants

Bail Compliance Unit - Project Exodus for Wanted Individuals in the Community

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) conducted Project Exodus from February 2 to February 27, 2026, led by the Bail Compliance Unit (BCU). During this initiative, the BCU worked in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Offender Management Team to locate and apprehend individuals with active arrest warrants originating from North Bay who were evading arrest by residing outside the jurisdiction.

In addition, the BCU executed outstanding warrants on behalf of the OPP, Toronto Police Service, and Chatham-Kent Police Service. Where appropriate, individuals were escorted from North Bay and returned to their respective jurisdictions.

The warrants executed included both Bench Warrants, issued when an individual fails to attend court, and Warrants in the First Instance, which are issued when police have reasonable grounds to believe an offence has been committed but are unable to locate the accused. Warrants were executed for a broad range of offences, including theft, robbery, failure to comply with probation or release orders, failure to provide the necessaries of life, possession of property obtained by crime, impaired operation, fraud, possession of a controlled substance, sexual offences, firearm offences, intimate partner violence, break and enter, mischief, uttering counterfeit money, flight from police, dangerous operation, and failure to attend court.

Results – February 2026:

  • Warrants Executed (arrest, committal, DNA, and Christopher’s Law): 93
  • Arrests on Reasonable and Probable Grounds: 7
  • Warrants Requested: 6 arrest warrants for criminal offences following investigations
  • Criminal Code Charges Laid: 36
  • Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Charges Laid: 3

“Project Exodus was a successful initiative that ensured individuals attempting to evade the judicial system were located and held accountable,” said A/Insp. Hampel. “The Bail Compliance Unit worked tirelessly, often during varied hours of the day and night, to meet the demands of ongoing investigations. This is a commitment we will continue to make in the interest of community safety.”

The NBPS remains committed to protecting the community and holding offenders accountable through continued collaboration and enforcement efforts.
