North Bay Police Take Drugs Off The Street

Traffic Stop Results in $29K Fentanyl Seizure, 10 Charges

 North Bay Police Service officers arrested and charged a male and a female, after a traffic stop on O’Brien Street in North Bay early Tuesday morning. The estimated street value of the seized drugs and currency is approximately $29000.

On January 16th, 2024, at approximately 4:40 am, an alert officer from the North Bay Police Service, spotted a suspicious vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop on O’Brien Street in North Bay.  The female driver was taken into custody for driving while prohibited X2, and the male that was located in the vehicle, was arrested on outstanding warrants.  A subsequent search of the vehicle and the individuals inside, resulted in the seizure of approximately $29000 in Fentanyl and Cocaine, and $120 in Canadian Currency. A black Glock pellet gun was also seized, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.  As a result of the investigation, the two individuals were charged with drug-trafficking and weapons offences and were held in custody for a bail hearing.

In total, searches by police resulted in the seizure of approximately 94.8 grams of suspected Fentanyl 2.7 grams of suspected cocaine,$120 in Canadian currency and an imitation Glock handgun (pellet gun)

 The accused in this matter are:

 Dane CARRIERE, male, age 36, of North Bay, who is charged with:

·        Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking

·        One count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

·        One count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime

·        One count Breach of Probation

 Mercedes EATON, female, age 31, of North Bay, who is charged with:

·        Two counts of Driving While Prohibited

·        Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking

·        One count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

 

 

In total, searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

·        Approximately 94.8 grams of suspected Fentanyl

·        Approximately 2.7 grams of suspected cocaine

·        Approximately $120 in Canadian currency

·        An imitation Glock hand gun (pellet gun)
