The City of North Bay, the North Bay Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC), and Creative Industries are seeking local artists and designers to create artwork for future downtown bike lockers.

Bike lockers will be installed at the Transit Terminal on Oak Street and Shabogesic Beach in September. Each locker holds two bikes and will provide temporary storage for cyclists visiting downtown, working nearby, or enjoying Shabogesic Beach for the day.

The North Bay Public Art - Bike Locker Project will strengthen the prominence of public art within the City, provide an opportunity to recognize local and regional artists and enhance the beautification of public spaces. Selected artists will be awarded $700 for each design, which will be used to vinyl wrap five bike lockers.

“We are thrilled to partner with Creative Industries to bring this initiative to life,” said Coun. Justine Mallah, Chair of Community Services and council representative for the PAAC. “We look forward to receiving submissions from artists with strong ties to North Bay.”

The City of North Bay is seeking submissions that reflect the diversity of the community and is encouraging applicants from all local artists and designers.  Submissions will be accepted at publicart@northbay.ca until Aug. 30, 2024. View full submission details at: https://northbay.ca/artistcall
