North Bay Wins National Award
North Bay’s Communities in Bloom Committee is excited to announce that the City of North Bay is a National Winner for Communities in Bloom 2025
The Communities in Bloom Committee held a wonderful ceremony on Wednesday, October 22nd at Boart Longyear’s Memorial Gardens to celebrate the achievements of the city this year.
Co-Chairs’ Deputy Mayor, Maggie Horsfield, and Chair of Clean, Green, Beautiful (CGB), Hariett Madigan, are ecstatic to announce that North Bay has taken home the award for National Population - Over 50,000 with a status of 5 Blooms - Bronze. This officially enters North Bay into the Communities in Bloom Circle of Excellence, showcasing internationally how North Bay is a beautiful community for the people and the planet. The Communities in Bloom Panel remarked a special recognition to North Bay’s “volunteerism and community spirits.”
In addition, North Bay was also a finalist for 10 Outstanding Achievement Awards which highlight special initiatives and organizations in each city. The Communities in Bloom Committee is happy to announce that North Bay took home the following Outstanding Achievement Awards:
- Scotts Youth Involvement - special mention to Rethink Waste, Your Arenas Our Arenas, Waste Diversion Outreach, CGB School Grants, Greening Schoolyards, OutLOUD North Bay
- Communities in Bloom Tree Management - special mention to City of North Bay, CGB, North Bay Hydro, Canadore College, North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, Sustainable Canadore, Trees for Nipissing
- National Capital Commission Plant and Floral Displays - special mentions to North Bay Heritage Gardeners, Streetscapes, City of North Bay, North Bay Horticultural Society, Northern Pines Transitional Housing Community Garden
The Announcement Ceremony was well attended and spirits were high as we celebrated North Bay’s wonderful achievement this year. The Communities in Bloom Committee would like to thank all the tour participants, Centennial Celebration Festival attendees, businesses, organizations, volunteers, and residents who make North Bay a beautiful community to work, play and live.
