Northern Ontario Music and Film awards accepting nominations

Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) is once again looking to recognize northern artistic excellence in film, music and media arts.

Nominations are now open for the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA).

There are 14 categories, including everything from outstanding album to songwriter, outstanding feature film, actor and more.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony and conference next spring in Sudbury.

The multi-day event, which officials say set new highs for attendance and artist submissions last year, also features live music, short film screenings, workshops and more.

“For artists in the North, there’s no better opportunity to make new connections close to home”, says Patrick O’Hearn, Associate Executive Director of CION. “NOMFA has expanded over the years in large part due to the quality of music and film coming from Northern Ontario. More and more, we’re seeing industry guests travel from far and wide to make this conference and meet the talent that lives up here. We’re thrilled to be bringing NOMFA back and shining a light on regional artists who continue to uplift our communities on the global stage.”
